Sessions

I normally conduct an evaluation that lasts 1-2 sessions. During this time we can both decide if I am the best person to provide the services to meet your goals. My sessions are 50 minutes long and are typically weekly at the beginning of therapy.

Psychotherapy is not easily described in a general statement. There are many different methods I may use to deal with the problems you hope to address. Psychotherapy is not like a doctor’s visit. Instead, it calls for a very active effort on your part. In order for therapy to be most successful, you will have to work on things we talk about in our sessions at home. Psychotherapy can have benefits and risks. Since therapy often involves discussing difficult aspects of your life you may experience uncomfortable feelings during the process. On the other hand, psychotherapy has shown great benefits. Psychotherapy often leads to better relationships, solutions to specific problems and significant reductions in feelings of distress.
